I’ve hit a really weird scenario in that SiP works well when I’m logged in, but for logged out users it does not work at all. Correction – nothing appears – you can see the little bar appear where the results would be, but nothing is populating it.

    I’ve:
    – Checked and eliminated JavaScript/jQuery errors
    – Remade my widget
    – Changed the “only apply where shortcode” (doesn’t fix it in either state)
    – disabled/reenabled ad-blockking: neither state fixes it
    – removed SiP scripts from minification/amalgamation with other scripts, but that has no impact- and there was no “function not found” error anyway, but I wanted to cover my bases.
    – used a different browser with no plugins/extensions installed

It was working a week or so ago and I’ve not made any major changes since then. What could I have missed, please?

    Thanks for your help (again!)

P.S: I’ve moved the Search box to the bottom of the sidebar to deprioritise it while we debug this. Thanks.

    Hello @fibrojedi

I see you have installed the ezCache plugin. So, I guess this plugin is loading a cached copy of the website. Could you please try disabling the cache plugin?

    Best regards.

Hey, I’ll let you know how I get on. ezCache is part of a suite that also serves ads in a user-centric way, so it’s not as simple as deactivating it. I’ve tried various rules like excluding your JS file from caching and clearing it out, but to no avail so far.

I’ll open up a ticket with that plugin and see if it’s a conflict they can resolve.

I’ll also let you know how I get on, so you know I’m not ignoring you. Thanks.

Edit: As your caching point was not one I had considered I deactivated Hummingbird. The search now works, so there’s a conflict with that plugin somehow. I even listed it as “do not cache this file” but it didn’t make the search work. Well, I’ve kept it deactivated for now and I’ll see how the speed fares. Thanks for hearing me out.

    Hello @fibrojedi

I have installed Hummingbird, and I am doing my best to make the “Search in Place” fail, but I have not succeeded. The pop-up with the results is still showing.

Could you please describe your Hummingbird settings to try to replicate the issue on my website?

    Best regards.

I will do this tomorrow for you as it’s late here now. (Had to support family more today as my wife has COVID.)

Thank you ?? I think she’s slowly on the mend, but it takes time.

I did a reset of hummingbird and it seems to work without the asset optimisation being messed with. I’ll carry on tinkering and get back to you if I can find the exact setting(s) that broke it before.
