So I have a widget on the homepage of a site that shows a previews of the most recently added image on a separate gallery page. I’ve successfully implemented the plugin so that users clicking a thumbnail image on the gallery page will open that image in the lightbox.

I want to make it so that if a user clicks the image preview on the homepage it will take them to the gallery page and then open that image in the lightbox. Is this possible?

  • Hi @glennanthonyjenkins,

If I understand your request correctly then our Pro version of FooGallery includes “deep linking” which allows you to copy a unique URL for an image opened in the lightbox within a gallery. That means you can use that URL to open the same image over top of the gallery at any time.

We don’t have deep linking functionality in our free plugin though.

Does that answer your question? If not, are you able to provide a link to your site and provide a bit more detail so I can better understand and answer your question?

I’m not sure that is the same thing I’m looking for. When someone clicks on the image in the preview widget on the home page – I want to redirect them to the appropriate gallery that contains that image and then upon arrival to that page have that specific image open in the lightbox.

I’ve tried a few things and the closest I’ve gotten so far is having someone redirected to the appropriate gallery and then simulating a click with jQuery on the link that normally would open the image in the lightbox. However, this only takes me directly to the image browser. If I click the link manually it works as intended in the lightbox.

    Hi @glennanthonyjenkins,

    Apologies for the delay.

We don’t have a widget that will do this for you but as mentioned if you can add the deep link URL for each image to the destination URL for each widget image then it will open up the gallery with that image opened in the lightbox.

So I don’t think we can offer exactly what you are looking for just at the moment.
