Most of the files I want to add are .pdfs that people currently mainly view in a new browser tab/window. With Download Monitor they always just start downloading.
I’m guessing this is because the link to the actual file is hidden behind the /****/ reference.
I see this topic was raised quite a few months ago, but with no conclusive outcome. I’ve tried bunging target=”_blank” into any likely looking href in your .php files, but nothing has worked.
Any suggestions on tweaking Download Monitor to display rather than download?
    Thanks

  • Have you tried to check the ‘Redirect to file’ option in the down?

    Barry,
I’ve just tried the Redirect to file option. Like the info by the clickbox says “If the dlm_upload folder is protected you may need to move your file” – I did have to create a new folder within the wp-content/uploads/ folder otherwise there was a permissions issue.

I’d previously had no idea what this option was for…

Anyway, it worked and all the usual functions – save link as, open, open in new tab – seem to work as expected.

Great, thanks for your help – I’ll have a more detailed play with it.

BTW,there seems to be an issue with removing files from a download – they initially seem to delete, but when the page is updated they come back again. I had to trash the download completely and setup a new one.

Glad to hear that worked for you.

I’ve logged an issue on GitHub about being unable to remove versions: https://github.com/download-monitor/download-monitor/issues/220
All communication about this bug will take place there.

I updated “Open in new window Plugin” from version 2.3 to 2.4 and now PDF files do not open in new windows tab. How do I get back to previous 2.3 version or how can I open our PDF files in new window tab.
I do not know anything about coding, can you please help me

Checking the “Redirect to File” box worked for me as well. I also got a file not found error due to permission issues. Instead of moving the files to a new folder, I deleted the .htaccess “denyfromall” file in the dlm_uploads folder. That worked, and saved some work.
