First time using this product and seeking to purchase the email notifications & google drive extensions but can’t seem to get it to work. My zipped files are currently located on a Google Drive. When adding a new file I add the shared link in the Downloadable File/Versions area. I don’t browse to a file I simply paste the shared link URL. I check the Featured Download box and then place the shortcode on a page. When I click the download link I get an open file. What am I doing wrong?

    Any responses appreciated

  • Hey @marvc,

Can you let us know what you mean by “Get an Open File”? Do you mean unzipped?

Also, can you share an example link that you generate from Google Drive?

Most of the files in this kit are too large to upload to the site so I place them inside of a Google Drive and share them.
    – Here’s one of the shared links from Google drive. This is one of the smaller shared files that links to an excel spreadsheet and is only available to registered members:
    Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RnHJYPMPuMt8TXq4EMIZkUw3hnekzf1w

    – I create a new Download, give it a name, & description.
    – I paste this link inside of the File URLs(s): window.
    – Add Version: 1.0.
    – Add some categories & tags.
    – I check the Featured Download box.
    – Add some categories & tags.
    – Click Publish.
    – Download Information:
    — ID: 378499
    — URL: https://theamericanveteran.com/download/378499/
    – I place this shortcode on a page.
    – If I navigate to the page and click the link I get a file called ‘open’.
    – If I manually navigate to that URL instead of me getting the Google drive file I get a file called ‘open’.
    – You should get the same if you launch this link.

Let me know if there are further questions.

Something weird I just discovered. If I change the Default Template to Filename – Filename and download count and refresh the page containing the shortcode I get the following:

    open (7 downloads)

I don’t know why this file is named ‘open’.

Seeing as how this plugin hasn’t been updated in over a year I’m wondering if this could be the cause of my issues?

    Any responses appreciated

    Hey @marvc,

Are you using our Google Drive extension? If not, please note that the file name of a Google file is not available to our plugin hence you will see “open” as the file name.

No, but I figured out what I was doing wrong and seem to have it working now. Thanks for the follow-up.
