For some reason the Facebook Open Graph Debugger is unable to pull the OG: Image from our site.

I’ve tried adding it at both the settings level an the individual page. It looks like it’s picking up everything else, including the dimensions of the image. It just won’t pull the image it’s self.

I have:
-Checked that we’re using the most recent version
-Looked at source code
-Double checked image size
-Tried to kill any plugins that may conflict

No dice on any of it. This has been going on for months.

Message from FB Debugger:
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

The following required properties are missing: og:url, og:type, og:title, og:image, og:description, fb:app_id

Info from Backend:
property=”og:image” content=”https://www.tempaint.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Open-Graph-Image.jpg” /><meta

After reviewing the code for your site, you are outputting multiple copies of the OpenGraph tags. This can cause problems when sharing content as Facebook will not always pull the data entered in our plugin.

Please disable plugins or theme functions that add OpenGraph tags. If you are unsure what is adding the additional tags, please run a conflict check following the steps here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts

Hi Amboutwe,
I added another plugin to help deal with open graph because of this problem. I’ve since gone in and turned it of. The blank OG image issue was happening long before I added the second plugin.

I deactivated all plugins last night except Yoast and it wasn’t working even with everything else turned off.

Addendum – I also switched to 2014 WP theme, so the only thing running outside of a stock Word Press install, was Yoast.

We ran the Facebook object debugger and it returned this critical error:

Check that the webserver is running, and that there are no firewalls blocking Facebook’s crawlers.

Hi @amboutwe,
I’ve already gone through this process, as mentioned in the opening post.

I’ve just gotten off the phone with the hosting provider for the third time and they’re saying that there is absolutely nothing on the account that would be blocking FB. No firewall, etc.

We checked your site multiple times using the Facebook debugger and keep getting the “Could Not Connect To Server:Check that the webserver is running, and that there are no firewalls blocking Facebook’s crawlers.”

You may want to try a different image to see if there’s an issue with the size, or try sharing a different page and seeing if the issue appears again.

Since the Yoast plugin is outputting the correct tags in the source code, and the Facebook debugger is giving this error, this looks like a server side issue.

Hi, i’m having the same problem, the url is https://blog.daydreamers.gr/2017/07/14/first-blind-date-with-the-coolest-band-in-the-world/

I also have all the og: properties but facebook debug says it misses the og:image.

we also checked the source code of your site and found the correct OpenGraph data being outputted by Yoast. Have you tried clearing your server cache or make sure there is nothing blocking from the server side?

Hi, yes, in the same ip are other websites (not wordpress) that can share without a problem. There is no cache or something else. Are you aware of any other url that can debug with more details?
Thank you,

@dzamanakos

We understand Facebook is stating you do not have an og:image. We can confirm Yoast is outputting the right og:image in the source code. See image https://pasteboard.co/GHiITmJ.png. While we are not aware of any other tool which can show more details we do suggest using the Facebook debugger here and scraping it until the right image appears. This guide explains more: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/why-doesnt-facebook-display-an-image/

We would also confirm that the image meets Facebook sharing standards here, especially the size: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images. For example, if you were to use another image does the issue resolve?
