It makes it so that all commenters — even non-OpenID ones — get an error that email and name are blank.

The root of the problem is that openid_require_name_email expects $comment_author to be a global, and it is not. But after fixing that, posting with OpenID still doesn’t work.

  • I see the same problem. Even if OpenID is only enabled for Admin.login it still blocks comments.

Have been using this plugin for years and it still works fine for login. Please fix….

I’m experiencing this problem too. Comments stopped working on my WordPress blog. Any attempt to comment results in this error:

Error: please fill the required fields (name, email).

The only thing that fixes commenting is to deactivate the OpenID plugin.

Latest update should fix the problem.

I’m afraid not. Exactly the same set of errors with 3.4.1.

can you give me the link to your blog? can you re-check if the installation process of the latest version worked correctly?

I tested it on two of mine and it worked perfectly.

Well, I have it disabled on my blog because when it is enabled, nobody can post. “diff” indeed shows that I am running your latest changes, but it still requires me to fill in both “name” and “user”, not just URL — and even when I do fill those in, I get an error saying they aren’t filled in, like before.

I tried re-enabling OpenID on one of my bogs after I saw it was updated. Did a brief check by posting as anonymous. It seems to be possible to post comments again now. Thanks for fixing.
