• HI
It is my first time when I am installing OpenID plugin.
Plugin is installed, I see him when I am looging to my WP, but it is everything. Nothing had changed in comments form, I have there no option connected with Open ID, so users can not comment my posts using openID.

What is wrong, I checked my configuration, and everuthing is enabled, plugin XRDS is also installed and enabled. Maybe I should add something to my comments.php file in my default theme? But what? I could not find any manual for this.

Please need help, sory for my enaglish, but I belive, yhat you understood my problem?

For a plugin that follows that standard WordPress Plugin Installation Method, I’ve had a lot of issues with it. Conflicts with MobilePress and WP Super Cache have kept me busy the last week or so, and now I discover that the fields aren’t showing in the comment form.

    In short: Me, too!

I am using the LightWord theme, if it helps anyone. The reCAPTCHA plugin manages to show the CAPTCHA form just fine, so I know that the theme has hooks for the comment form.

Did some digging. The plugin adds some JavaScript that uses AJAX to check whether or not the Website is a valid OpenID. Entering a URL into the Website field will trigger a check; if the check detects a valid OpenID endpoint at that URL, the checkbox to authenticate with OpenID will appear.

Elegant, but I now need to find a way to indicate that my Website field is OpenID-enabled.

voyagerfan: yes, as of the last release, the ‘authenticate with OpenID’ checkbox is only displayed when the URL is determined to be a valid OpenID. The plugin includes the little 16px OpenID logo, so you could tweak your themes stylesheet if you want the logo to be displayed by the website field in your comment form or wherever you want.

The way I managed to solve this was by directly editing the comments.php file for my current theme to call the form label “Website/OpenID.”

Inelegant, but the best I can think of.

I really don’t like this change. It’s not clear at all to the user that they can use their OpenId, and they might (for that reason) decide not to comment at all! What’s more, I see no benefit to this scheme, as you’ll have already entered your info on the page (Name, e-mail) by the time you enter your OpenId, and you aren’t even forced to authenticate with your OpenId server. Why is the plugin built this way?

I agree. Having just installed this plugin and spent an hour trying to figure out why I apparently couldn’t use OpenID to comment on my site, this whole AJAX thing seems like a terrible design decision and unnecessary bloat.
