Siteground is my WP host and they recently added support for “OpenSSL 3.0.8 7 Feb 2023”. I don’t know what version they had before, but after that change my Feedzy reader stopped being able to pull a feed from a different host which I’ll call Host 2.

Host 2 only supports TLS 1.2 and does not allow secure renegotiation. Siteground is 1.3/1.2 with secure renegotiation.

So my question is, am I facing an unsolvable block on using Feedzy between these two servers until Host 2 adds 1.3 support? or is there something Feedzy can do to add support for OpenSSL 3.0.8 which will allow the plugin to talk to Host 2 on TLS 1.2?

Siteground engineers told me today it is definitely an incompatibility between Feedzy and the new OpenSSL. I created a test page on my site which I’m happy to share privately with the Feedzy dev to aid in testing a new release. Let me know!

    Hi there,

The is no incompatibility on our end, we don’t use anything that could change the way you use SSL or SSL connections. We use the core WordPress mechanisms and functions so if there is an issue with SSL connection, you will get that issue with or without Feedzy.

However, if you feel like is something from our end feel free to contact us on [email protected] and mention this ticket. We would be happy to try to help.

Thank you for the response. I believe you that the plugin doesn’t determine the connection, but I had to ask because of what my host was telling me.

During testing, I tried other plugins and none work with Host 2 anymore, so clearly it’s the WP host change that needs to be looked at. Again, thank you for the consideration.
