Opt out for wp_mail

    This plugin is used in a lot of other themes and plugins, can it be configured in a way to simple use the wp_mail function from WordPress itself?

    Many customers complain and don’t want to use MailChimp and many do.

    Is there any hooks to make this possible?

    MC4WP is really meant to connect Mailchimp and WordPress. If you want to use it as a contact form that is possible, especially with our Premium add-on that has the wp_mail email notifications build in, but it’s still really meant for subscribing emails to Mailchimp, other plugins may be better is you just want a contact form.
