My site was hacked last week and after considerable effort using WordFence I have got control back. This evening I went to optimise the firewall and it is querying this file, asking if I want to include it in the firewall rules or not?

I have absolutely no idea, can anyone help please?

    Thanks

    Nigel

Hi @nfarnfield, thanks for your question.

There can be instances where a host or another plugin uses the auto_prepend_file directive that we’re trying to set during optimization. That seems to be what you’re being warned about here. It is possible that the global.php file is required to be there but I haven’t seen any specific cases to say for sure. It may be worth double-checking with your host to see if overriding this will cause issues, or be forcefully added back to your .htaccess/.user.ini file, which in turn would cause Wordfence to revert back to Basic Protection.

For instances where this file would still be required after Wordfence optimization, the INCLUDE option in our optimization wizard will make sure that our wordfence-waf.php also includes the global.php file so that they both load.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
