optimal htaccess settings when using supercache

I’ve often wondered about this. I always add deflate and expires in htaccess. But then I’m using Supercache on top of that. Is there any conflicts that might arise from this.

For example SC asks if I want it to serve compressed files… ? Well, most files are compressed via deflate, so what option does it have? Maybe this suggests that if I don’t say yes, serve them, it won’t cache them.

So the question might be, add my own deflate and expires as if there were no cache plugin, or let SC handle everything?
