• Hi there,

I tried resmush.it on a development site that comes with approx. 1000 uploaded images. Those images lead to approx. 15.000 images in total (including thumbnails).

When I tried to run resmush.it, the optimization process stopped quite regularly. That means I needed to click “Optimize” quite often. It only optimized a couple of images in a row.

I tried with a server cron job, but the hosting allows only a cron job every 2 hours, so I do not think that is a good solution.

    1) Is it normal that it stops all the time when I manually mass optimize the images in the WP backend?

    2) I use a plugin that resizes all uploaded images on upload, e.g. resize to max. 1920px x 1920px as the client often uploads huge images
Will the optimization on upload work when a image is larger than 5MB directly on upload, but gets automatically resized so that it becomes lower than 5MB?

    3) I see that other plugins have more settings e.g. select which thumbnail size should be optimized. This was never clear to me, as I cannot know which thumbnails are used. Is this the reason why there is not setting like that at resmush.it? At least I did not find it, therefore the 1000 uploaded images lead to 15.000 images that must be optimized.

Thanks a lot for clarifying and your amazing work so far

    Markus

  • I am having a similar problem. It seems to skip over between 8-900 images and when I try to manually optimize it starts but never finishes.

I went away from this plugin for now, as it’s not working reliably and I never got any response even though I tried to explain it well
