Optimizing NextGen gallery thumbnails

Hi I’m currently trying to optimize my website https://www.top-farm.info

One key problem is optimizing the thumbnails generated by NextGeneration Gallery.

All my larger images are optimized and my pages are receiving scores of 82-90 when tested on developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights. All the pages using NextGeneration Galleries are getting scores of 40 and specifically flagging the thumbnails for optimisation.

Here’s an example of a page and a specific thumbnail:

I’ve accessed my database > wp_options > option_name: ‘ngg_options’
and changed the value of the thumbnail quality to 80 “thumbquality”;i:80;s:8:”

But this has made no difference to my optimization score – can anyone help?
