    Hi,

first of alle, thx 4 this veeeeery usefull and still up to date plugin! ??

I installed it, and was very happy that it works together with my theme (rehub) and elementor. But … i was realy surprised that there is no field or option to upload a category image in the custom taxonomy. Without that, for example, I can only create a category list with names only. With images, this would be much more attractive. My theme unfortunately only supports this for its own taxonomy.

Could you please add such a feature or give me a hint how to get it done (preferably without an additional plugin)? ??

That would be very kind and helpfull … no only for me for sure. ??

    Cheers

Images on terms and whatnot sounds like it’s divulging into term meta, and we haven’t done anything for any type of meta data, outside of the ability to set custom field support for given post types. We don’t set up UI to save meta data.

I know you said “no plugins” but that’s honestly going to be the best route to take outside of checking if your theme has settings for the standard taxonomies.

I’d recommend Advanced Custom Fields https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/ or CMB2 https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/cmb2/ personally.

Sad, but i accept the no. Then the page in question will have to do without category images.

Won’t hurt to put in a support request for the theme/theme developers to see if it’s something they can add in the future, if not already possible with the theme now. May just be a setting not yet seen.

I have that already done. ?? And guess what, it’s almost always the same: they say they can’t do it for X reason and if it involves a non-theme plugin, you’re supposed to ask the plugin developer. It’s a very tiring vicious circle. ;(

Let’s get me squared away with this a moment ??

The theme already handles image meta on terms, for the category and post_tag taxonomies correct?

But does not with any custom taxonomies registered elsewhere?

If that part is accurate, then I can see why they may not want to do that with the theme, but definitely not impossible by any means. At least in my mind, also something better handled by the theme since it’s the theme template files that would be handling the output in the end anyway. It’d be a matter of finding a way to list out custom taxonomies, and allow for setting “hey, use this image field functionality to these as well” whether by checkbox, text input, etc.

At least thus far, with CPTUI and even our premium CPTUI-Extended addon, we haven’t done anything with meta data on content types, as it’s all very open ended and unique to each site. On top of that, there are other plugins that have taken their own angle on the topic, at least in terms of helping create UI to save data, and are doing it way better than we could in a timely manner.

Regardless, I definitely agree with you as well at the end. It can and is frustrating, especially if someone doesn’t know how to get into customizing code.

Yes, the theme already handles image meta on terms, for the category and post_tag taxonomies.
So i don’t give up the hope, that you and your team will implement the image-function i desire. ??

What theme is this, out of curiosity. I’m wondering if extra taxonomy support is already supported with the right filters/settings or safely added via child theme.

It’s the Rehub-Theme. Despite of my taxonomy problem an excellent theme. ??

Drat, not one I can acquire without paying for it.

Adding functionality around the topic of term meta or meta in general would be a new direction for the plugin and not one we’re presently entertaining, especially when there are other plugins that are already doing better with the topic.
