    Hi there!

Your plugin is great! As soon as i noticed it, i installed it on my site!

    I have a question, though.

Since I have a menu with sublevels under several links, is there a possibility to make parent links of those sublinks clikable?
For example, if you go to my page (https://omnomnom.com.hr), and see the menu on the right, unter “Restorani” there’s a menu structure like this:

    >Restorani
    >>Nasice
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    (…)
    >>Osijek
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    (…)
    >>Vukovar
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    >>>Subitem
    (…)

is there a possibility to make an option where a user on the mobile view can tap on “Restorani”, then see options Nasice, Osijek and Vukovar, and to have an option to chose which of those will he open? I don’t know how to explain it better ??

I’m asking this because when I open the menu now, all the menu items and subitems are loaded and displayed right away, and since there are a lot of subpages, it creates quite a fuss.

Thank you in advance, and hopefully you’ll be able to help me somehow.

    Cheers!

    Ivan L

  • Hi Ivan,

Thanks for downloading and using my plugin, it is much appreciated.

I think I know exactly what you mean and it is a good idea!

I will add your request to the development list and will let you know once this has been released with the changes for version 1.7, it should be available by the end of next week I would say.

    Many thanks

Oh, and Peter, this is not a request, merely a suggestion… more on the designing side:

Since you plugin is really pretty, minimalist and stylish, and if you’re really going to make the click-to-expand function available, don’t you think it would look good if, when clicked on the link, the below links slide down like some accordion menus, and the submenu that appears fades into the void created by sliding? Again, I’m at a loss with my words, and just throwing these suggestions ?? I do not know if such “animation” is even possible to do, so I guess I became a bit cocky ??

    Hey Ivan,

Not a problem, I always like a challenge my friend!

An accordion style open and closing animation would be absolutely lovely, I will try my best to achieve this for you, however please remember that as you already stated the point of my plugin is to ne minimalist.

This minimalism extends from the design to the implementation, with the aim being that the size in terms of file size and code added to users sites is as small and succinct as possible.

If I can find a way of replicating the accordion animation myself using as little code as possible then I will of course include it, if it means adding 1,000 extra lines of code then I won’t.

I will let you know once I am about to release the new version with a link to the beta so you can take a look at it in action.

I will keep you updated ??

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Ivan,

1.7 has been released which includes sub-menu selectors.

Unfortunately I haven’t had time to create an accordion style effect for now which would take up a little code due to the timescale on the 1.7 release.

I will add it to my development list to look at in future versions for you however.

Please let me know how it works for you once you have downloaded 1.7

    Many thanks

    Hello Peter,

I just updated the plugin on my site, and it both looks and works flawlessly! This was exactly what I was looking for! ??

I would like to point out that I searched far and wide the Internet for a simple but pretty and effective plugin like yours, and none of the other I found come even close to yours!

Thank you once again for helping me, and upgrading your plugin to fit my desires! I would gladly donate some money to you, but, alas, my page is completely non-profit. However, should you require any help with design… of anything basically, feel free to contact me! I am not much good in coding and programming, but I’ve been into graphic design for about ten years. Also, if you ever want to translate your plugin, I can help you with translating your plugin in Croatian and German.

Feel free to contact me if there’s anything I could do for you! My emails are [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]

Thank you once again and stay well!
    Bye!

    Hi Ivan,

Great to hear that it worked well for you first time and thanks for the 5* review, it’s much appreciated!

Also, thanks very much for your kind words, it’s nice to know that all the time and hard work is appreciated out there on the world wide web!

Don’t worry about any donations, but thank you for the offer! I believe the web should be free and the fact the whole WordPress system is free plus all the programs I use for coding, testing, uploading etc. are free, it would be cheeky of me to charge!

The translation idea is something that sounds very interesting however, I will definetely give that a thought!

I have some German friends and tried to learn a few words here and there but it was very difficult for me (I’m English)! Croatian sounds interesting too!

I am sure to be in touch in regards to this in future and thanks again for your words and review.

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Ivan,

I am close to releasing the 1.8 version of the plugin that will include a translation into Spanish.

I know you said you might be able to help with translating into German and Croatian.

I wonder if I could possibly trouble you with this, there is no rush at all and can be done whenever you like.

There are a total of 93 sentences/words that need translating so if it is too much or you are too busy then don’t worry, it’s fine.

    Please let me know.

    Many thanks

    Hi Peter!

Of course I am willing to help! When it comes to translating the plugin to Croatian, I can start with it in about 5-7 days. As for translation to German, I’ll ask my brother to help. He studied German, and lives and works in Vienna. It may take a bit longer, but I guarantee the translation would be excellent.

If you have prepared the words/phrases/sentences, you can e-mail them to me when you get the chance, and I can take a look at them as soon as I find free time.

    Hi Ivan,

    Thank you so much!

Of course there is no rush, you can take as long as you want with this.

Have you ever used Poedit or dealt with .mo/.po files before?

They are the standard translation tools for WordPress and most online applications.

I can provide the .po file to use to translate which is the easiest way of doing this or if not I can just send you a list of the phrases/words in an email.

    Whatever works best for you!

    Many thanks again!

    Hi, Peter!

Sorry for not answering you sooner, got caught in some other stuff.

I have some good news for you! I contacted my brother an he agreed to help with translating your plugin to German! Meanwhile I did some googling on Poedit, and the program seems easy enough to use, so if you send me the .po file, I can forward it to him and start working on Croatian translation myself.

You said several times that there is no rush with all this, and it seems I’ll have to make use of that freedom, since I truly can’t promise you when it will all be done. All i can promise is that both my brother and I will try to do it as soon as possible. Neither he or I are procrastinators, and we are aware that constant postponing may result in never doing it. Therefore, both of us will do our best do do it as good as possible, as fast as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,

Thanks very much for the reply!

Don’t worry about the long reply, we are all busy people and what you are doing for me is a massive favour so it would be wrong of me to push!

If you download the 1.9 beta and unzip it, you will find a folder called translations, inside are the 2 .po files that you need, named:

    – responsive-menu-hr.po (Croatian)
    – reponsive-menu-de_DE.po (German)

You should just be able to load this straight into PoEdit, make the translations and then save the file again which you can send me once done.

The link to the 1.9 zip file is:

    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/responsive-menu.1.9.zip

Don’t worry about timescales, there is no rush at all as I said as you are doing me a favour.

I will of course mention and thank you and your brother on my website and in the plugin description (please give me links you would like your names to link to) as a small thank you and of course provide continued support with the plug-in.

Please say a big thank you to your brother too it is much appreciated!

Many thanks again Ivan and brother!

    Hi Peter!

I’ve just finished translating the plugin into Croatian!

I uploaded it to Google drive

This is the.po file and the .mo file that was created by Poedit. I wasn’t sure if you needed that one too, bu I included it anyway.

The translation might need some polishing in the future, so, as soon as you include it in a beta or full version, and as soon as I see it how it looks like in my WordPress dashboard, I’ll know for sure if everything is translated well. I’ll keep working on it for as long as it takes to make it good. The German translation is on its way ??

    All the best,
    Ivan Le?

    Hi Ivan,

    This is absolutely amazing!

I have just uploaded it to the 1.9 beta and changed my WordPress language on my development site to Croatian and it works perfectly!

Thank you so much for this! Please let me know which website you would like me to link out your name to on the description and changelog pages!

Unfortunately I’ve added a few more options for the 1.9 release so they aren’t all translated now but its 95% done which is amazing!

You can download the 1.9 beta from the same place:

    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/responsive-menu.1.9.zip

This will give you the updated translation and a few new options so you can give the new plug-in a try and see how the translation looks for you before it’s released.

Many thanks again and I can’t wait for the German translation too!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh, it’s no problem, really! It was really the least I could do after you helped me with adjusting the plugin to my needs ??

I would give you the link to my portfolio, but currently, it’s not functional. I’m having some problems with hosting, so I’m planing to move to another host, and build my website anew. So, for now, would you mind putting a link to my Facebook page, and later, when I remake my new portfolio, to change the website address?

I’ll take a look at the beta in the following days. Right now, I need to get some sleep, as I’ve been up since 5AM ??

    All the best,
    Ivan
