    Love the plugin!

One question – is it possible to get an option where once the user clicks on the call to action button, the plug-in no longer shows the notification bar?

I saw this behavior on a different website/plugin, and it’s elegant because the assumption is that once a user clicks on the call to action, they no longer need to keep seeing the notification bar over and over again. (Yes, they can always close it themselves, but this is a more clunky user experience in my view).

    Thanks for a great plugin!

    Hi Todd,

This is Aj the theme author. By default when you close the notification bar you shouldn’t see it again. The plugin uses localStorage to save the preference so it will remain closed until the user clears their browser cache.

I recorded a quick video test to show you and confirm it’s still working as expected: https://a.cl.ly/4guRNblk

If it’s not working like this for you, can you please share the URL so I can see what’s going on? Thanks!

ps: Sorry I just re-read your comment and I totally miss-understood the request! You want the bar to close when clicking the button itself not the close “x” icon.

That’s a good idea. Let me look into this. Of course you can always use some custom javascript on the site to do this, but I do think others would like the option as well, especially if they are setting their button text to something like “accept” (for a cookie notice for example).

I’ll let you know when I implement this!

    Hey Todd,

I’ve added a new option to choose the “Close Type” like this:

I think this is the best way to add the new option and I don’t see any case where you would want both the button and the close icon if the button also closes the notice.

I will push out an update most likely this weekend. I’m taking some time to also add a few more styling options and update the CSS so that it uses modern Flex styles.

    Hi AJ,

Thanks for considering my request and making this update!

For what it’s worth – I still think it may be nice to have the X button (at least as a signal to the user that the notification bar is closeable).

I think the idea I was getting at was that the user no longer needs to see the notification bar once they’ve clicked the Call To Action. However, for those who don’t intend on clicking the Call To Action, the X to close the notification bar is helpful.

Put another way, the pathway to closing the notification bar could be different for the 2 types of users who will see it.

User A) User clicks on CTA and sees the intended message (bar closes)
User B) User never plans to click on CTA and X’s out the bar (bar closes)

Whatever you decide, thanks again for considering my request, and also for a great, useful plugin!

    Hi Todd,

Thanks for the feedback! I will add an other option in case you want the button to close the bar and still show the close “x” icon ??

In the updated version I’ve also added some more options to control the design including a new option to displace the text and button which is fairly common to do:

If you want i can send you a zip of the updated version before the final release if you wanted to try it out and provide any feedback.

My concern with having the bar go away when clicking the button itself is in case where you are for example promoting a sale and perhaps the user clicks on the button today and then comes back to your site tomorrow and now they can’t find the button or a way to access the sale.

So personally I would probably only dismiss the notice in cases like a “cookie or legal notice” where they are basically clicking the button to agree to the terms. Or maybe to notify of some sort of update like “hey we’ve updated our site terms” and then you can click the okay button as you will likely not care to ever see it again.

Incase you want to try the updated version here is a link to the dowload: https://a.cl.ly/04ud6KWe – I need to update the readme.txt file and do some last checks and I’ll push out the official update over the weekend.

If you to try it out though, just note that this zip version already includes the updated version number so you won’t be notified when the official version is out via the wp admin as it’s intended as a beta test only.

I downloaded the updated plugin, and it’s amazing! I love it even more now. Thank you for adding the requested feature. I don’t have any feedback – it’s perfect!

    Hey Todd,

Sorry for the delayed reply and thank you so much for testing! I will be pushing out an official update in the near future.

I had just updated the plugin when you left the original comment and I didn’t want to overwhelm people. I try and limit updates to at most every couple weeks – I know it can be very annoying when plugins are constantly updating, especially if your site doesn’t have automatic updates enabled.
