• Hi!
How can I ad an option to a downloaded file which is an .exe to execute it? It is a support TeamViewer login program for remote help desc and I would like to run this exe file after the users downloaded. I have some old people users that have no idea where are going the downloaded files, and this would be helpfull option.

  • No offence, but encouraging anyone – especially older people – to download an unknown .exe and run it is a very bad idea.

why aren’t you directing them to the teamveiwer site to down load the file?

It is a known file dedicated for remote desctop help desc. The problem is that a lot of old people did not know where to find the downloaded file, and no option to help them with direct phone contact.

This file is a dedicated TeamViewer login file created to be in remote conection with the help service. Not enough to help only on phone…

My point is that if you encourage them to download and run an exe from your site, you are training them that it is ok to download and run .exe from the web.

Now I know that is not your intension BUT older people doen’t always understang that this could be a big risk. I would find a way to clearly document – step by step – how to get iand install it from the TeamViewer site. You might have to have a printout and/or a video and probably extra patience for them.

    My two cents.

Modern browsers don’t allow downloads to execute automatically unless an exploit is being taken advantage of. Execution of a file isn’t something that is controlled by WordPress.

juggledad before the download is told to users what they want to download. And they also are in telephonic contact with the help service operator.
