    Hi,

Is there a way to register the votes against usernames rather than IP or cookie? I only want to allow logged in users to vote.

My users might share the same IP so I can’t register votes by IP. They also use the same computers in a public place so the cookies aren’t unique to the users. The only way I can think is to register votes against usernames, but this also allows them to vote multiple times on each post, which isn’t ideal.?

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks

    Hi mrmocha,

Storing ratings against users is only available as a Pro feature. I could look at adding any logged in user id in the cookie name if that helps.

    Hi @dpowney,

That would be immensely useful if it meant different users could use the same browser and the cookie wouldn’t prevent them from voting on posts. I’m not crystal clear on how it would work, but it sounds like this is what I need.

I’m happy to buy the pro version if that already includes the functionality? I just need to know that whatever happens I can turn off IP blocking and users will still be able to vote only once and that whatever cookie is set it logs against users rather than browsers….if that makes sense.

I actually had one other question as well – is there a way to turn the rating into a simple up/down voting system (or like/dislike) or is that beyond it intended functionality?

    Thanks

The Pro version has this functionality.

There is a like/dislike rating item type in the Pro version similar to an up/down rating system but the rating result is still stars, percentage or score.

    Cheers,
    Daniel
