When I used Yoast SEO Premium I was able to set a primary category for posts and products in the dashboard.

I am currently using free SEO and this option is missing for me. For example I can place a product in multiple categories, but cannot indicate which is the primary category.

Is this expected behaviour? And if not, is there a fix?

I have checked the Yoast Support and Help centres for answers and reindexed the data. All to no avail.

    Can anyone help please?

    Hello @xmarksthespot

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. Can you confirm the version of WooCommerce, WordPress and Yoast SEO plugins that you currently have?

    Hi Maybellyne,

    All current, i.e. wordpress 6.2.2, woocommerce 7.8.2, Yoast 20.11

I’ve looked again and the primary category setting IS present. Sorry. I seem to recall that it could be set in ‘edit post’ against the post hierarchy. Similarly for product. I now see that it is in a drop down box below the hierarchy. I simply missed it!

    Hey @xmarksthespot,

Thank you for getting back to us. No worries, happy to hear it is sorted.

We’ll mark the topic as resolved. Have a great day!
