The Twenty Sixteen theme blurb says…. “the horizontal masthead with an optional right sidebar that works perfectly for blogs and websites.”

I can’t see any place in the admin or customiser to invoke/revoke the sidebar. ?? Cunningly I thought ‘Maybe if I use a full width template then the sidebar will disappear by default’….except there is no full width template!

Crikey. This is a basic theme packaged with WordPress. If it says the sidebar is ‘optional’ surely there should be somewhere obvious to invoke the option? (in fact I want to revoke the sidebar, but out of the box 2016 opens with a sidebar.)

    Help appreciated!

    Hi @hj,

That sidebar will show when there are widgets in the Sidebar area. If you are to go to Appearance > Widgets you’ll see the Sidebar area there.

You can delete the widgets and/or blocks within the sidebar – and it should stop showing in the site itself.

    Thank you @jordesign!

Not the most intuitive option you’ll come across, but at least I know now!

    regards
