Options, design: What can WordPress do?

Hello!

I am very new to wordpress, to say: I haven’t got one yet! But I am thinking about it now that I am trying to redesign my old website (for a freelance copywriter). The site that really caught my eye is https://www.jandaco.com. My question to you is: can these kinds of results be reached with only wordpress?

Or can wordpress be used only to create a blog like they have (the skinny) and via a RSS-feed somehow (I havent figured out how) link that blog and the newest posts to the homepage (the ‘real website’)?

What should I try to do? Who can point me in the right direction?

PS: for example: is this entire page (www.ads-software.com) made with wordpress? Including the index? Because that more or less resembles the idea of jandaco.com
