I have tryed to save my general options but after changing any option in options-general.php it does not save & returns a blank options.php page?
I have tryed other option tabs eg; options-permalink.php it returns options-permalink.php and has a slow fade text box that notifies that it has been saved.
    anyone know whats going on?

  • Does it anything have to do with different addresses:

this was a fresh install of 2.0 not a move.

    this is the URL: https://www.mykung-fu.com/
    this is the host: https://rdonalds.brinkster.net/

when i try to update the general-options WordPress address (URI) to https://www.mykung-fu.com/ it sends the request but returns with a different blank page options.php instead of general-options.php.

WP is always very “picky” about this kind of settings with redirects and two different domains. Since the two URIs are stored in the database and called to put together various internal links… it’s a possible cause for many problems.

Consider using phpMyAdmin to make sure your wp_options table has the correct values in siteurl and home.

siteurl is your WordPress address (URI) and home is your Blog Address (URI).

You might want to logout and delete your wp-content/cache folder also.

phpMyAdmin worked i got in and manualy edited the tables thanks MichaelH.

I’m having a similar problem but this solution didn’t work for me. I’ve got a fresh install at shekky.org/jason/wordpress which I’ve got set up as a subdomain called jason.shekky.org.
when I try to save my options I get a 404 for wp-admin/options.php.
I can see options.php in Transmit. Its there.
In the database I’ve had both ‘siteurl’ and ‘home’ set to ‘https://jason.shekky.org’. Changing siteurl to ‘https://shekky.org/jason/wordpress/’ does nothing.
Incidentally, this is my second install. I cleared out the old one (which worked flawlessly from the get-go when I first installed it) and installed this one. I activated the back-up plug-in, installed K2 and dropped in my scheme and some images, but otherwise its clean.

This seems to be getting progressively worse, and it doesn’t seem to have to do with wordpress, unless there’s something I don’t know.

I decided to start from scratch again. I deleted the database and deleted all the files. then I uploaded fresh files and pointed my browser at the install script. It barfed. It said that wp-includes/wp-db.php didn’t exist. So I check to make sure its there, it is, so I try it again, and I get a 404 on the install script. Now I can’t even ftp to any of the folders in my wordpress directory; I get “550 permission denied.”

Why is it that the more I do the less files I seem to have permission to?
