I noticed this was marked as resolved recently here.

But it has recently become a huge problem on my site. I’m getting a ton of entries in the options table like: “_transient_yst_sm_post_1:iQCv_Ayow” and “_transient_timeout_yst_sm_post_1:iQCv_Ayow” very quickly. It ballooned my db recently to over a gig, when it’s normally about 20 megs.

I saw in that post that they can be turned off completely, but they are a good thing when used correctly. When will Yoast fix this, or what can I do besides turning it off, anything?

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

At the moment we can only suggest disabling it. In addition, our developers are aware of an issue with it. You can view the open issue report here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/5507. We suggest commenting on it so you can be kept aware of updates. You may need an account in order to post.

Wow, that open issue report started in 2016, and Yoast hasn’t gotten a handle on the issue yet? I guess I’ll disable it, but doesn’t that hurt the efficiency of the plugin?

    Hello,

You can also delete the tables; you can safely delete those rows in your database.
There may also be a database plugin that can help you locate the database. Search for cache_validator in the wp_options table. You should be able to safely delete every table you find with this query. Please remember that editing your database can be dangerous and we recommend having a backup ready.
