Sorry if answered already, but can’t seem find way to search this forum.

How can I order / sort upcoming shows by date (ascending) instead of by artist when adding short code “[gigpress_shows]” to a WordPress page?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Hey @westonjeff,

There’s unfortunately no way to go about modifying this sorting without diving into the plugin code directly; the gigpress_shows() function found in the file gigpress_shows.php is where the query is assembled, and thus where you can tweak things to sort by date instead of by artist.

We’re not able to help with custom coding unfortunately, as elaborated upon here. But I did try and see if I could make a modification to the file to sort output by date; I wasn’t successful in my attempt. ??

I will ask another developer on our team to take a crack at this — stay tuned!

In the meantime, here is the official documentation for GigPress’ shortcodes → https://gigpress.com/docs/#shortcodes

    Cheers,

Thanks for the reply and effort George.

When I add Gigpress as a widget, it sorts by date by default. Find it a bit strange the normal use of “[gigpress_shows]” doesn’t do the same.

    Thanks again!

You bet — let us know if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help. ??

    Cheers!

If anyone’s interested, a quick fix to display by date is to user the short code of

    [gigpress_shows group_artists=no]

Thanks for sharing your workaround, @westonjeff.

Have a great rest of your week!
