Order cancelled by the program without reason

Hi,
a customer has placed his order, he chose a bank transfer for his payment. After a couple of hours the system itself cancelled his order saying something like: The time limit for making the payment has expired.
Where should I set that there is no time limit for making a payment. I don′t understand how the system itself can cancel an order without my authorization.
