    Hi. When an order is placed on my site I get a confirmation email from PayPal or Square depending on how the order was placed, but I do not get a confirmation from from the Woocommerce plugin. Shouldn’t I be getting a confirmation from the Woocommerce plugin as well?

    I believe I have it set up correctly to receive an email, but I do not get them. I checked both my spam and my inbox. Here is a screenshot of the settings. https://ibb.co/LksJx3Z

    Thank you,

    Pat

  • You should get the new order email at the moment the order is placed. This is sent before it is paid, and whether its paid or not. Are you getting these emails?

    After its paid, you won’t get an email. (Unless you have some code or plugin to do it)

    Thanks Lorro. I’m not getting those email.

    Are you getting any emails, for example if you click the lost-password link on the login page, do you get the lost password email?

    Thanks. Good question. I haven’t needed to use the lost password feature in a while. So I don’t know.

    At one time I was getting notifications when people would leave a comment on the site, but I stopped receiving comment notifications along time ago. Probably over a year ago. I don’t know why the comment notification stopped. They just did. I haven’t been able to figure out how to restart them. I wonder if it’s a related issue.

    Please try the lost password link. If that doesn’t send you an email, it will point to the next step.

    I tried it twice. I did not receive an email to reset the password.

    I even went under my profile information and to try and change the email address associated with my profile. I changed that to another one of my email addresses. It said I would receive an email to the new address in order to activate it. I never got that email.

    That’s helpful, because it defines the problem as a general email issue and not related to WooCommerce.

    When this happened to me, I found out that my host had disabled the PHP mail function due to security concernse. The fix was to move to SMTP mail. This is my favourite SMTP plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/
    There are others.

    You can setup and send emails by SMTP within the plugin’s settings pages.

    More info here:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/email-faq/

    When you’ve got basic WordPress emails working, I expect WooCommerce emails will work fine. If not, please come back.

    Thanks. I watch a video on using this plug-in and it says it requires access to my C-panel. My host does not allow me to access the C-panel. Is there another option.

    Thank you,

    Pat

    You could put in a support call to your host’s techs, tell them what you want to do and ask them to setup an email account on your host and let you know the SMPT settings.

    That’s the best way, but if not, try the gmail or hotmail route.

    Basically you need an email account that can send SMPT emails. Myabe your current email can do that.

    Hey again!

    As Lorro mentioned, this is a fairly usual issue with sending mail from a webhost.

    To solve this you could first get in touch with your host and see if they can fix any mail issues. I would then suggest setting up an account at one of the dedicated SMTP providers I’ve listed below. All have free account plans available and typically can be set up in a matter of minutes. Each service also has a plugin available on www.ads-software.com which makes the setup process easy.

    * https://sendgrid.com/https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-sendgrid/
    * https://www.mailgun.com/https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/mailgun/

    You can also use a plugin called WP Mail SMTP(https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/)? which will allow you to send email to any functional address, even one you create from your web host.

    Thank you AW. I did contact my host. They emailed me back and said they are going to look into it. They believe they can fix it. If they don’t get the issue resolved, I will pursue one of the other options you posted.
