Order failed and update order status

Hello,
when an order fails the payment procedure, for example because the card code is wrong, this is recorded as a failed order, and when the correct code is re-entered (always remaining inside the checkout) a new order is generated. Is this the correct behavior of stripe?
Is it possible to update the status of the failed order without generating a new one?Thanks
