After a bunch of research, I’m stuck on how best to execute a certain task on my website – hoping someone on here might have some ideas on how to set it up or suggestions for a plugin or combination of plugins. Here is an explanation of what I’m wanting to do:

Background info: I sell eco-friendly fashionable clear handbags intended to be taken to large scale concerts and sporting events where clear bag policies are being enforced. While carrying my brand’s clear handbags at these events (where thousands are in attendance), my customers have been stopped by strangers asking where they got their bag from. I want my customers to be rewarded for these types of “on-the-spot” referrals. The below steps are how I think it may be best to do so:

    1. Using a Referral/Affiliate plugin & interface such as Referral Candy, I’d like to create custom referral links that are unique to each customer automatically after they place an order on my website
    2. Additionally once this order is placed, a unique QR code would be automatically generated which would lead to the unique customer referral link URL mentioned in point #1 once scanned
    3. This unique QR code would be printed on the customer packing slip/invoice which will be included in the order shipment
    4. The customer can then take that physical copy of their unique QR code that’s printed on the packing slip along with them when they go to these large events. So if a stranger stops them to ask where they purchased their clear handbag – my customer can whip out the hard copy of their unique QR code printed on their packing slip, and tell the stranger to scan it on their mobile phone. The stranger will be taken to my customer’s unique referral link url upon scanning (such as “https://thechantbrand.refr.cc/janesmith”) – at which point if the stranger places an order after following that link, they would receive a discount on their first order and my customer (“Jane Smith”) would receive a referral reward.

(This isn’t necessarily important for you to know, but just for your reference….If this set-up ends up working somehow, I would actually design and produce a custom 5×8 blank packing slip template which includes a 1″x1″ section of a removable die cut sticker label where each unique customer QR code would be printed on – and that little QR code sticker can be removed from the 5×8 packing slip and adhered to the inside of the customer’s clear bag – with the QR code facing the outside so the aforementioned “strangers” could scan the QR code directly through the clear bag – making the process super quick and seamless.)

I’m hoping to find a solution utilizing existing plugins that won’t require much outside customization. Thanks in advance for anyone’s insight!

  • Hi @abgross1,

    1. Using a Referral/Affiliate plugin & interface such as Referral Candy, I’d like to create custom referral links that are unique to each customer automatically after they place an order on my website

If you have Referral Candy, you can ask them regarding customization to see if they can create these links on the fly. From what I understand, it has the ability to do #2 already, which is partly covered on this review link.

    3. This unique QR code would be printed on the customer packing slip/invoice which will be included in the order shipment
    4. The customer can then take that physical copy of their unique QR code that’s printed on the packing slip along with them when they go to these large events. this also looks to be a part of Referral Candy. However if you are looking to create a code with a different plugin and not use Referral Candy you can check out the YITH barcode and QR code plugin, and reach out to YITH to make sure it can match what you need.

Since this is not core WooCommerce specific I am going to go ahead and mark this thread as Resolved however if you have more questions please feel free to open a new thread!
