• If I do a partial refund on a COMPLETED order, its status changes to PROCESSING, while it should stay COMPLETED. I have no control over this behaviour.

    Only happens with PayPal payments. With all other payment methods I use, order status is unchanged on partial refund

    Partial refunds are expected not to change the current order status, with changes only occurring when a complete refund is processed. More details can be found here: WooCommerce Order Statuses.

    To further investigate this issue, it would be helpful if you could test this in a controlled environment. Please disable all plugins and use a sandbox account to create a test order. After partially refunding the order, check if the order status still changes. This will help determine if a third-party plugin is affecting the order status via PayPal.

    All my sites are “live”, so I will need to create a staging to do the tests.
