    Hi,
I hope I’m asking this in the right place. I’m using Customizr theme, with WooCommerce (Version 2.3.13). The problem I’m having is that my product categories are ordered alphabetically, and although I’ve reordered them in my dashboard under Products > Categories, it’s only changed in the back end but the front end is still alphabetical.

    Here’s a link to my site: https://delicate-elegance.com/products/

Also, is there a way to make certain categories a sub-page of “Product Showroom”? So, for example, if I clicked on “Product Showroom”, I could then choose from the sub-pages “Girls'”, “Boys'”, “Unisex” & “Accessories”?

I hope this isn’t a stupid question & thank you so much in advance for your help ??

  • 1) In the widget’s settings there is an “Order by” dropdown, so make sure this is set to “Category order”.

    2) Have you tried: Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab > Display sub-page, Shop page display dropdown = Show categories and subcategories.

    Hi Iorro!

Thank you so much for your response ?? However…

    1) I can’t find the “Order by” dropdown you mentioned – I’ve been searching through all of the WooCommerce settings – can you tell me exactly where to find this?

    2) I’ve done the 2nd one, but that just shows all of my categories, not as sub-pages, but when I go to “Product Showroom” they are all listed there instead of the individual products. However, there are some categories I would not like to be shown as sub-pages (i.e. material – silk/lace/etc.), only so customers can choose by gender or accessories – if possible!

    Thank you!

Just realised my mistake on 1) – it was the widget in the left sidebar that I needed to edit!! The widget was “WooCommerce Product Categories” & as Iorro said, you can order by “category order”.
Thank you so much, Iorro – I was just looking in the wrong place – doh!

OK. Regarding the second question, I’m pretty sure you can’t have the Shop page show products for some categories and categories for other categories. Its either one or the other. At least not without a lot of coding.

If you want to pick and choose what you show you may have to abandon the default Shop page and instead setup a series pages for what you want to show and populate them using WooCommerce shortcodes:
    https://docs.woothemes.com/document/woocommerce-shortcodes/
The disadvantage of this approach is that shortcodes don’t have pagination, so you need to set the shortcode’s products-per-page parameter big enough to show all relevant products.

Hi Iorro – thanks for the tips! As I’ve managed to organise the categories in the widget, I think the site is okay without the subpages, so thank you ??
