• Hi,

A client asked me to make a ordering system for clothes (pants, jackets and gillet) where customers can add their own sizes.
See the shared link with a picture of the different fields. The green buttons need input.
    https://docs.google.com/a/davel.be/file/d/0B9ETTs9fgmr3VkVmdjFrSW4taGM/edit?pli=1
For example for a jacket: it has 8 items with 2 fields; also 4 seperate fields like Jacket style, Fabric, size and remarks.

Other things: no prices, need status follow-up and e-mail communication via admin-panel, only for logged-in customers.

Questions: what we’ll be the best solution. A totally new plugin or do this with WooCommerce. When i do it with WooCommerce, there’s already the whole follow-up system, right. But it’s the product presentation which i’m concerned in WooCommerce.

    Any tips are very welcome,

    Thanks

  • We need to sort some concepts out. WooCommerce is a plugin, it provides diverse capabilities around ecommerce, eshop, catalogues etc.

How this gets presented is controlled by your choice of theme, there are lots of themes which work with woo, some are from woo, some are by others.

Then there is the possibility of building your own theme, of course it is also possible to develop your own ecommerce solution. I think life is too short to reinvent the wheel.

My suggestions, keep your eyes open and look at the options, keep notes on what you like and hate, what you must have. Get the client involved here too, lots of ecommerce adventures fail for lack of commitment by the client to put in the considerable effort of creating and maintaining a catalogue. Having done this field research you will be in a good position to make a best choice, and be able to close whichever gaps remain.

    Thanks @rossmitchell for your answer.
I’m not a newbie, i know my around WordPress, worked with a lot of Woothemes already.
But i was just wondering the possiblities to solve this nicely.
You’re totally right with re?nventing things.
I’ll go for an e-commerce plugin to do this; probably WooCommerce.
