Orders missing from back end listing

    On 7-28-2023 we launched a redesign (more of a rebuild) of our site. We no longer see orders from 1-18-2023 to 8-04-2023.

    The issue appears to be that data is no longer in the wp_posts table. However the order related information appears to be replicated in the database tables wp_wc_order_stats, wp_woocommerce_items, wp_woocommerce_order_itemdata and some others.

    We went to a backup from before the day before the relaunch (7-26-2023) and found the wp_posts data related to shop_order missing there as well. So this does not appear to be a relaunch related issue. Other data for other content types in the wp-posts table (pages, etc.) are there that time window.

    Admins report that they did see orders in the back end when performing custom service tasks. This does not necessarily mean that somebody saw orders in the back end on 7-28-2023 but certainly in the week leading up this date. Unfortunately we don’t have many backups further back than that (a few days only). None of them contain the missing wp_posts data for shop_order.

    Our questions are:

    1. Have you seen this before?
    2. Is there a (SQL) script to restore the wp_posts data using the data fromthe other tables I referenced?
    3. Is there a fix?

    Thank you for contacting Woo support!

    The issue appears to be that data is no longer in the wp_posts table. However the order related information appears to be replicated in the database tables wp_wc_order_stats, wp_woocommerce_items, wp_woocommerce_order_itemdata and some others.

    From what I gather, while investigating the site’s System Status Report (SSR), it appears that various data import/export plugins are activated.

    Since this is a redesign/rebuild, I understand that data were migrated; from a development to the live environment, for example.

    Just to clarify, did you already have a chance to check the exported files from the import/export plugins, aside from the database backups, or otherwise?

    Moreover, are the orders appearing as expected in the backups of the live site from before the rebuild launched, or otherwise?

    Thanks for taking a detailed look.

    While I wasn’t the person doing the migration/import/export I did restore backups of the pre-relaunch version of the site and found them to be in the same condition, that is there is data in the wp_wc_xxx and wp_woocommerce_xxx tables but it’s not reflected in wp_posts.

    Hi @chrishaff ,

    Did the re-build involve copying the site or the database to a new instance and then building the new site over there? I suspect the posts table data didn’t get fully copied over at that time resulting into the issue.

    An approach here would be to extract the data from the database for those dates and then importing them again into the current site.
