• Hello WooCommerce Support Team,

I am facing two major issues on my WooCommerce website:

    1. Order Placement Issue
      • Sometimes, orders are placed successfully.
      • Other times, customers see this error message:
“We were unable to process your order, please try again.”
      • There is no clear pattern as to why this happens.
    2. Checkout Page Display Issue
      • The default checkout page layout appears broken.
      • Some text fields and elements are misaligned (e.g., text appears lower than its expected position).
      • This issue was not present before; it started happening recently.
      • I have not made any design changes to the checkout page, so it should display correctly with WooCommerce’s default styling.

I am attaching a screenshot of the checkout page issue for reference. Please assist me in resolving these problems.

    Hi @huzaifa0300 ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

For the checkout page display issue, it looks like the misalignment is caused by your theme. To confirm, you can switch to a default theme like Storefront and check if the issue persists. If the checkout layout appears fine with Storefront, then the theme is likely the cause.

Regarding the order placement issue, intermittent errors can be tricky to diagnose. Are you noticing any patterns—such as specific payment methods, product types, or customer locations—when the error occurs? Being able to reproduce the issue will help narrow down the cause.

Let us know what you find, and we’ll take it from there!

    Hello,

The issue is not happening all the time, which makes it difficult to reproduce. Orders are being placed successfully most of the time, but occasionally customers receive this error:

“We were unable to process your order, please try again.”

Since my clients’ customers place orders daily, some orders go through without any issue, while others report the error and reach out via WhatsApp. Because the issue is not consistent, I cannot test it myself reliably.

For the checkout page misalignment, I will try switching to the Storefront theme and see if the issue persists. However, this problem only started recently, and I have not made any changes to the checkout page layout.

Please let me know what steps I can take to troubleshoot the order placement issue further.

    Thanks.

    Hello huzaifa0300,

    Thank you for your reply.

Orders are being placed successfully most of the time, but occasionally customers receive this error: “We were unable to process your order, please try again.”

To diagnose this issue we need more information.
It would be helpful to ask your customers if they can successfully place the order after some time or with a different credit card. I am saying this because one common cause of this error is payment declined due to incorrect card details or some other issue with the credit card.

For the checkout page misalignment, I will try switching to the Storefront theme and see if the issue persists.

Please let me know about your findings related to the checkout page.
Share screenshots if you find any issues on the Storefront theme.

Lastly, could you tell me which payment gateways you have set up?
Knowing the plugins will help troubleshoot the first issue.

Looking forward to your response. ??

    Hello,

I am using the OceanWP theme.

Regarding the payment methods, I have set up only two options, and neither involves online payments:

    1. Bank Transfer – Customers see a text with bank account details and instructions to send payment and share the screenshot via WhatsApp.
    2. Cash on Delivery (COD) – Standard COD option.

Since there is no credit card or online payment method involved, I don’t think payment failure due to incorrect card details is the cause of this issue.

The error “We were unable to process your order, please try again.” happens randomly—sometimes orders go through, and other times they don’t. Customers often reach out via WhatsApp when they face this issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi @huzaifa0300,

Since the issue happens randomly, we’ll need more details to identify the cause. I’d recommend checking WooCommerce > Status > Logs for any recent error logs. If you find any, please share them via https://gist.github.com/.

Additionally, please check if there’s any pattern to when the issue occurs—does it happen with specific products, user roles, or at certain times? Any details you notice might help us narrow down the cause.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Hello,

I checked the logs, and the largest error file in the logs is this one: https://gist.github.com/huzqureshi/b4af4bde6d9471d8b6b752a142165b46.

Since the issue happens randomly, it’s hard to find a pattern. Orders sometimes go through successfully, but at other times, customers report errors. This happens across different products and user roles, so I don’t see a specific trend.

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

Thank you for providing more information about the issue.

The error message you shared belongs to the Elementor Pro plugin. Additionally, I see some mixed content errors—some files are loading over HTTP instead of HTTPS.

I also tried placing an order on your site and encountered a 403 Forbidden error with the message: “We are not able to place an order.” However, after refreshing the page, the order was placed successfully.

It seems that some files using HTTP instead of HTTPS may be causing this issue. Could you please first fix the mixed content errors and ensure that all files and links on your site are loading over HTTPS?

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to fix mixed content errors:
?? How to Fix the Mixed Content Error in WordPress (Step by Step)

If that doesn’t help, please try deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and check if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes! ??
