I’m a woodworker and sell difference size pieces of wood with WooCommerce. Product variations are listed in inches. A customer ordered a 4″ diameter circle priced at $9.50. However, when I received the order, the size came in (on the order page that WooCommerce emailed to me, AND on the WooCommerce order page) as 4\” but sold for $6.75, which is the price for the 2.5″ diameter instead!

On May 25th, another customer order a different type of wood (1/2″ oak circles) and the order came in as 3\” but sold for the price for a 2.5″ diameter.

I do not have any sales price reductions on these items. They are all listed as enabled. I do not use inventory stock management.

Obviously, I’m losing money with this issue. And what is the \” backslash in the order’s variation size? It is not in the attributes, variations, nor the diameter options that customers see and select.

I have compared all the product settings in these 2 orders with a prior successful order, and the only thing that appeared different is that in the PDF packing slip, neither of these 2 orders had the product’s SKU listed, while on the successful order, the SKU was listed. All these products have SKU’s set-up in product’s variatons pages and each size has a different SKU.

So it seems that WooCommerce is not placing a correct order for the size that the customer ordered, but is substituting the lowest priced size instead! This is a serious issue! Unacceptable!

I recently did a WooCommerce database update, as recommended by WooCommerce, thinking that would fix this problem that occurred on May 6th. Apparently it didn’t, since it happened again on May 25th.

Mac Safari web browser, iOS 10.14.4, MacMini late 2012, WooCommerce version 3.6.4, default storefront.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks in advance!
    Doug

    Hi Doug,

Can you please post a system report for us? Goto woocommerce > status > get system report and paste that here.

If you could also post a screenshot of that one variable product that would be great too. Use something like snag.gy or imgur to post that.

    Thanks

Thanks Stef. I posted the system report and it is being held by for review by a moderator…screenshots coming soon…

You’re welcome. I’ll get it approved now.

Hi I have being testing this a bit… this is my finding:

If I click the Add to Cart, it add it to the cart on the correct price but if I click the PayPal it will pop up a window and give me a message that if PayPal is not launching to “Click to Continue”… after I do then I find the product added to the cart with the incorrect price… Whatever you are using for that paypal button… there is the cause of your problem.

    Thread Starter doug262

    (@doug262)

Here is the screen shot. Below it is just FedEx settings which should be irrelevant.

webmasterhouston, you are correct! Somehow, PayPal is showing the price for the smallest variation instead! Thank-you for discovering that. Now to find out why and fix it…I’m using WooCommerce Payal Checkout Payment Gateway, version 1.6.14 that was last updated 3 weeks ago…

    Thread Starter doug262

    (@doug262)

Thank-you so much webmasterhouston for testing and finding that the Paypal button was causing this issue. I really appreciate it!

I’ve checked all the settings in the WooCommerce Paypal plugin and everything seems to match the help files, but the issue still exists. So I’ve reposted in the Woocommerce Paypal forum at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/paypal-checkout-is-changing-customers-variation-and-price/

    Stef

    (@serafinnyc)

If this is truly the cause why don’t you try using the built in PayPal to WC? Why use the plugin?

    Thread Starter doug262

    (@doug262)

Good question. I’m trying to remember what’s the difference and found these:

PayPal Standard takes customers from your site to PayPal’s secure site to finish paying for their order.

An integrated payment gateway connects to your eCommerce website via the gateway’s provided API. The biggest advantage of this is that customers never have to leave your store to input payment information and submit orders — it’s a smooth, seamless experience.

However, since the gateway is currently not working properly, reverting back to the standard is an option. I wish it would work properly again, for the benefit of customers.

    Stef

    (@serafinnyc)

True. I love using that too but if I have a flat tire I’m going to use the spare ??

    Hi @doug262,

I’ll close this thread since per https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/paypal-checkout-is-changing-customers-variation-and-price you’ll create a ticket with us where we can look into the issue further.

    You are welcome.

I have being considering to install this paypal option as you have it, for one of my costumers… Now there is something I need to be aware off, before I do…

This kind of problems can potentially add up to thousands per month.
