“Original Image” disappears from attachment metadata upon removing watermark

  • Hello there! I hope you are safe and well ??

    I have a bit of an odd problem. When I upload an image, the original high-res file is saved, WP creates the scaled version and all the thumbnail versions, and the watermark is correctly applied.

    However, if I remove the watermark from that image, the “Original Image” on the image edit page disappears (and the original image disappears from the image post metadata).

    I also notice that Easy Watermark regenerates the watermark image from the scaled version of the image, not the original?

    I need the original images to remain connected to that image attachment post, rather than disconnected and becoming orphan files. I also need Easy Watermark to regenerate its watermarked images from the original, high resolution files, not the “scaled” version.
