I have a product with variations. The original prices are $295 and $335. When I put them on sales at $245 and $285, the Shop and product page only shows the sales price as $245-$285. It does not show the original price crossed out, like the simple product.

People have no way of telling if the product is on sale or not on the product page. Only by looking at the “Sales” display on the Shop page, that one can tell it is on sale. Is this a WC issue?

    Hi @ezekielion

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

I hope that helps! Let me know once you have done a conflict test!

I set up the Storefront with only the following plugins enabled:

    WooCommerce

    WooCommerce Legacy REST API

    WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency

    WooCommerce Stripe Gateway

Still same issue. How is it supposed to look like when product with variations is on sale?

    Hi @ezekielion

Did you test by changing the theme? For better assistance, can you provide a video showing the issue on your end? For video, you may use https://loom.com or https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/. Please follow the instructions on that page and then paste the URL into this thread.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Please note that the original price for the variations is not showing on the sale item at all. The customers have no way of knowing the original price besides the “SALE!” tag.

For variable products, it’s expected behaviour. Normally you have to choose a variation before you can see that variant’s original and sales prices.

This is because every variant might have a different price, and the sales price could also vary. That’s why displaying the original price and sales price like a simple product might be challenging and not feasible.

Although help with custom code is outside?our scope of support, you can try the following code snippet and see if this does the trick: https://gist.github.com/shameemreza/0b6f0b307e8d44b04987ee058015d51e

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

    Thanks, @shameemreza

I am not a php programmer. I have a child-theme with function.php How do I add that code to WP? I thought this should be a basic feature in WooCommerce.

    Hi @ezekielion

Go ahead and copy the code, then paste it at the bottom of your child theme’s functions.php file. Alternatively, you could use a plugin like Codesnippets.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks so much. This should have been built-in as part of WooCommerce.
