My web is about 41GB.And my hosting previder has about 52GB free space. My hosting provider has more than enough disk space to export the file again, but why does it still prompt “Out of disk space. Unable to write content to file. File: /home/customer/www/erosdoll.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/storage/hnwvl3vwocga/www-erosdoll-com-20241122-030348-s3yh3l53v689.wpress”when exporting

  • I’m also running into this issue. One of my sites was successfully migrated with the backup a few days ago. I cleared it and that opened up more than enough space. As of yesterday and today I’m running into this error for my smaller site. Current host doesn’t know what to make of it.

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you’re doing everything right with plenty of available disk space on your hosting, but this “Out of disk space” message can sometimes be a bit misleading. Let me explain a couple of reasons why this might be happening and how we can troubleshoot together.

    1. File Size Limitation: Some hosting providers impose limits on individual file sizes, even if there’s enough total disk space. For instance, a limit of 8GB per file could prevent your 41GB backup from being fully processed. It’s worth asking your hosting provider if such a limitation exists.
    2. Database and Temporary Files: When creating a backup, the process involves the database. Large database can add up and quickly use the remaining 11GB of free space (52GB total – 41GB site size). Even though it seems like there’s enough space, this overhead might cause the process to run out of room.

    Here’s what you can try:

    • Split the Backup: Since you’re working with a large site, consider exporting parts of it separately (e.g., database, media, plugins, and themes). This reduces the size of each file and avoids hitting file size or disk space limits.
    • Clear Up Space: Temporarily remove any unnecessary files, logs, or old backups on your hosting account to free up additional room for the export process.

Your hosting provider might also be able to give you insights into their file handling or temporary storage policies. Let me know how it goes, and I’d be happy to guide you further if needed!
