    Hi,

I need to understand how out of stock work.

Here is the issue I have all product and variation are enable, some attribute are out of stock
when the swatch is grayed class is swatch-disabled

Product A has 3 variation image.
if one of the variation is out of stock the variation image swatch is grayed and the string out of stock is NOT displayed on product page, the cursor is an arrow and image cannot be selected

Product B has 3 variation image.
if one of the variation is out of stock the variation image swatch is NOT grayed but Out of stock string is dispayed on product page
    The image is selectable.

So both product are not acting the same with out of stock attribute variation and I just don’t know why as product B is a clone of product A

Note I’m using Woodmart theme for the swatches, I asked them and they told me that the grayed and string are from Woo not from their theme but from Woo-WP.

    No error into the console.

Also is this possible to set a variation to

    Hi @lenamtl,

As WooCommerce does not come with variation image swatches, you’ll first want to check if the plugin you’re using to add them, or another tool on your site is causing the issue here. To do that, please perform a conflict test.

If the erratic behavior remains when you only have WooCommerce + a default WP theme like Twenty Twenty-One, we’d then like to troubleshoot further.
In such a case, could you share with us links to the two product pages as well as the stock levels of the variations as defined at variation or product level?

    Thanks.

    Ok thanks for the clarification.

Let say I don’t use swatch and use the dropdown instead what should happend to variable attribute that is out of stock?

Also what trigger out of stock string for variation?

    Hi there,

Thanks for your question. When a variation is out of stock WooCommerce will display an “Out of stock” message if the option Hide out of stock items from the catalog next to Out of stock visibility in WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory is disabled. If that option is enabled, then WooCommerce will hide the variation from the dropdown.

Also what trigger out of stock string for variation?

The stock can be set at the variation level, and that means when that product variation is out of stock, the above behavior will apply. Let me know if I didn’t catch this question and elaborate a little more so that we can answer you correctly.

    Thanks.
