Google warns that UA properties are outdated and will discontinue collecting data next summer. But the Site Kit even requires permission to create a new UA property, regardless of whether it can use the G4 property that is already available in my GA account.
The information it returns is sparse. A bookmark in your browser to GA and GSC is free, doesn’t take resources on your server, and delivers way more information.

    Hi @volkerforster,

Thanks for the feedback and sorry to read your review. Many users remain using a Universal Analytics (UA) property and have not yet switched over to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). In addition the GA4 reporting API used by Site Kit is still being developed and we need to have all the same metrics available as we do in Site Kit currently. We are working on switching over to GA4 reporting within the Site Kit dashboard, well ahead of the sunset period for Universal Analytics.

While the plugin does does display data based on a connected UA property it also requires users to select a GA4 property, so they’re prepared in advance of the sunset period for UA. Users can view GA4 data from analytics.google.com, while viewing UA data from the Site Kit dashboard or analytics.google.com.

We have more information on how Site Kit works with the different Analytics property types over on the Site Kit website:
    https://site-kit-dev.appspot.com/documentation/using-site-kit/ga4/

With regards permission to create a new Analytics property this is expected, with Site Kit using OAuth to connect a verify a users Google account with their Analytics account. The plugin is requesting permission to create a property on users behalf, within the Analytics module setup.

If you’re willing to give the plugin another try I’d be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
