• Earlier today, I wrote a new blog post.

Since then my main blog page, and most posts display an outline of a blank double box. Never seen anything like it.

    You can see it athttps://crestviewmarketing.com/2012/04/02/target-local-customers-in-your-back-yard-with-this-new-postal-service-program/.

It also shows up on the main blog page, and other blog posts.

I tried isolating the parts of the post that’s causing it by methodically deleting sections of the copy via the html window.

What I found was that it would look fine until I added anything at all after the lines…

“For more information about the EDDM program:
    Click https://www.usps.com/business/every-door-direct-mail.htm”

And what’s also weird is that if I delete everything after the above usps link (all html and text, and publish it, that post will be okay (except it’s not complete), but some other posts accessible from that first blog page will still have the block in it.

    Help! Any ideas?

    Merrill

check to see if a plugin is interfering:

–deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin.

–if that does not help, try switching to the unedited default theme (that came with your version of WP) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

Thank you for the good ideas.

I also installed Antivrus plugin and ran a scan.

The problem seems to have gone away… for now anyway….

    Appreciate your time!

    you are welcome. ??

Hate to break it to you, but those boxes are back on your site, AND they’re on mine too. I have deactivated all plugins, re-written the post – and they’re still there. They’re on all posts somewhere – middle, top of the screen, etc.

    HELP!

By the way, my link is

    https://www.lifevesting.com/blog

Any post click will produce the boxes.

Ok… so it is back… Thanks for the heads up Andy!

It appears this is being caused by a plugin called “Share This” version 5.0.0 by Manu Mukerji.

Now to research the plugin further for known problems or updates…

    Okay…

Other users of the Share This plugin have recently (last 2 or 3 days) posted about this problem on the sharethis forum.

It’s a Facebook iFrame javascript issue. Deactivating the plugin will make it disappear.

    Merrill,

Thanks for your legwork on this. That cured my problem instantly.

Have to wait for them to fix or upgrade it, I guess.

It is a busy topic on their forum, but it seems there are no solutions yet.

    Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience due to our product.
We’ve fixed the issue .You can install the updated plugin(5.0.1) from here:
