Over 150lbs shipment

  • Hello,

    I have product weight 40lbs per case, minimum order required 5 cases. Total weight is 200lbs. As I know FedEx ground shipment limit can not be over 150lbs per shipment order.

    1. What will happen if this is the situation?
    2. Will the Ground shipping method still an option displayed for shopper?
    3. Can the Ground shipping still calculates the shipping weight over 150lbs/order?
    4. Any other available shipping method will be automatic displayed such like LTL for shopper?

    5. My other products are based on free shipping method. If I add a new product to have FedEx Ground to handle the shipping rate, any conflict with free shipping method? How to set FedEx for this product shipment?

    6. How can detect the address shopper provided is a commercial or residential address for the system auto selects Ground shipping or Ground Home Delivery? Because these two shipping the cost are difference.

    -Freight services will be returned only when the shipment ‘Total weight’ exceeds 150 lbs. Hence, if the package weight is over 150 lbs, then it is considered as Freight shipment by the respective carrier’s API directly.

    If a single package weight is not > 150 lbs, then FedEx Ground will definitely return. However, the basic version of FedEx plugin does not gave Freight LTL services, but these are available in the premium FedEx plugin.

    – The challenge is when both ‘free shipping’ and ‘FedEx shipping’ products are in cart. However, this requirement can be fulfilled with a snippet solution, which will skip the FedEx rates calculations for the ‘free shipping’ product in a combined cart and rates will be returned only ‘fedex shipping’ products.

    Hello Sir,

    You mentioned “…this requirement can be fulfilled with a snippet solution…”. Your plugin is including this snippet solution function, can handle both ‘free shipping’ and ‘FedEx shipping’ products are in cart?

    Do I need to get both FedEx Ground and FedEx freight LTL separate account credentials in order to run these both shipping methods on your premium plugin?

    Does your plugin can auto detect commercial and residential addresses in order for FedEx returns either Ground or Home delivery service method? (correct method to avoid extra fee).

    Does your plugin can be worked with third party discount shipping provider such as netparcel.com (they provide me better rate than direct from FedEx) ?

    – Yes, the snippet can handle the case when both are in cart.
    – You would need get a separate account for Freight services and as per my knowledge, this would be sufficient for normal services as well.
    However, we would suggest you to check with FedEx techsupport for further details regarding Freight account.

    – FedEx API has “Address Validation”, which is a special service and you need to get this service activated for your FedEx Account by FedEx. Once done, the addresses will be validated by FedEx API as ‘Commercial/Residential’ respectively.

    -Since our plugin returns rates and services directly from FedEx API, if your FedEx Account has these discounted rates validated by FedEx API, then the discounted rates will be returned directly from API.
    That would not be a problem.

    Hi,
    I am interested in using this plugin for live shipping rates on our ecommerce website. We have some products that are over 150lbs, and I would like to know if this plugin allows us to provide live Fedex shipping rates for orders that weigh over 150lbs?

    If so please advise if this plugin alone will be sufficient, if we need to create a fedex account with our own fedex credentials?

    Hi @drazen,

    The basic version of the plugin is meant for small shop owners who have a 1 or 2 products in their inventory. Hence, Freight services are not available with the plugin.

    However, the premium plugin will definitely return Live shipping rates for ‘Freight’ shipments as well. and also yes, you would need to have your own set of FedEx Credentials that has a validated Freight Account by FedEx.
