    Hi,

I have Yoast installed on WP. It works pretty good. I have it setup to appear in the sidebar/ tool bar. My question/ comment is this: the prompt about how many times the keyword phrase appears is also counting the appearances of it in the Yoast panel in the side bar and or if it’s turned on to appear inline in the page.

I’m ignoring it, but when others login and are looking at the SEO ranking this little glitch is causing a false positive that results in a score of OK instead of Good. I keep getting questions about the lower scores compared to other pages. So it’s not occurring in all pages or posts.

Please note I am using Elementor Pro. This seems to only be an issue in non Elementor pages. It does not seem to be an issue in Posts either. Also these pages include Custom Fields for a more dummy proof and expanded CMS style experience for other users when creating content so the presentation is consistent for non technical and or non Elementor users adding content to the site.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Hello @slideri812

I’m sorry about your experience with the plugin. You mentioned that the Yoast SEO analysis is also counting the appearances of it in the Yoast panel in the side bar. Can you provide more information on this? Do you mean that the keyphrase is a common word that also appears in your WordPres dashboard?

Please provide us with screenshots that highlight the issue you are experiencing. You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

    Thank you.

    I have posted a screencap here: https://snipboard.io/Xg1muM.jpg

Please notice I have the Chrome search/ finder open with my keyphrase in it. Finder says 7 instances on the page. Yoast in the side panel says 10. There are only 4 instances on the page. You can see them highlighted in Yellow.

Note the counter of Finder reads 5/7, note that the key phrase field in the panel is highlighted in Orange as the 5th instance on the page, this is correct as again there are only 4 instances in the “page”. Yet Yoast is reporting 10 on page instances.

I have turned off the Inline Yoast so the only instance on this page is in the side panel.

    Thanks

    Hello @slideri812

Thanks for the helpful screenshot and the patience so far while I investigated the issue.

The phrase IT Automation is being treated as one word, Automation, because, in the English Language, It is a function word. Since function words carry very little meaning and don’t help Google figure out the topic of the copy, they’re excluded from the keyphrase assessment.

If you click on the eye marker icon by the keyphrase density analysis, it should show all instances of the word Automation detected by the plugin instead of IT Automation.

However, your use of IT is not a function word but an acronym, so you can add a double quote before and after your keyphrase. By doing so, our tool will look for the exact match of this phrase, and the warning will disappear.

Do let me know how it goes.
