    Hi,

Website is in Dutch/Belgium, that studies page contains an embedded content which can only be served in English it appears.

When I go into edit mode I can only translate it to English (but it already is English..)

Is there a way to override the language so that TranslatePress knows it is English and that I can translate to Dutch?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

Yes, there’s a way to handle this situation using the String Translation feature of TranslatePress.

    Here are the steps:

    1. Activate Regular Strings: First, you need to activate the “Show regular strings tab in String Translation” option in the Advanced settings of TranslatePress. Navigate to Settings > TranslatePress > Advanced > and enable the “Show regular strings tab in String Translation” option. Save your changes.
    2. Use String Translation Editor: Next, navigate to the String Translation editor in TranslatePress. Here, you will see a new tab named “Regular”. Click on this tab.
    3. Find and Translate the String: In the Regular tab, you can search for the English string (the embedded content that is being served in English). Once you find it, you can translate this string into your default language (Dutch).

By following these steps, TranslatePress will now ‘know’ that this specific English content is actually Dutch content. You will then be able to further translate it into any other secondary languages you have set up on your website.

Please note that you may need to clear your site cache and browser cache after making these changes, to ensure that you’re seeing the most recent version of your site.

If you have further questions or need any assistance with these steps, please let me know. I’m here to help!

    Best regards,

    Hi,

I enabled the option, opened translate page, clicked String Translation, selected the ‘Regular” Tab.

I can search and find the string, but when I edit it, I experience the same issue.

The english content sits in the “From Dutch” field and it greyed out, I can enter an English and French translation, but can’t change the Dutch version.
