• Hi,

We are rebuilding a website with a new theme (Avada) etc. as previous theme isn’t supported anymore and breaks on WP updates.
The site has a knowledge base, with 10 categories and +/- 150 articles..

The articles themselfs are fine, if you connect directly to the article url, you get to see the article.

But the overview page and the category pages are just blank.
No errors in console or in the server log.

  • Hey @ximie90,

If it’s the same as my problem the issue was WP Dashboard > Knowledgebase > Settings the Knowledgebase Category Slug was just category and this collided with WordPress’s own category-system pages causing 404 errors.

If you want /category you can try maybe changing WordPress’s category via WP Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and change category base to something else, not tested myself as I don’t use WP categories – my site is just a Knowledgebase.

    —– My Issue WAS —–
Going to a category page is “Page Not Found” and on the page not found also missing breadcrumbs so makes it harder for the visitor to navigate.

According to other support topics it’s to do with Permalink. I currently use “Post name” setting, you?

It’s seems this Plugin has been abandoned and no longer in active development. Even for PRO owners.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Something has changed in the permalinks / category and sent our posts link structure haywire, I think it is because Avada seems to be ignoring the ‘Category Base’ on the permalink page .

    Any advice?

@davidblood Like you said, seems the plugin is abandoned. We dropped the plugin, no point in trying to make somehting like this work, for it to break the next update of WP again…

@pdagnall yeah, I think it has to do with the Avada layouts, they have caused some issues for us in other projects. But we moved away from this plugin and made something workable within Avada’s ‘ecosystem’ using postcards and a CPT.

@ximie90 Indeed. It’s a shame this was a good plugin easy to use and lightweight I’ve used it since early beta days and developer has multiple times fixed issues and even did a whole re-vamp. That was in 2019 though. Seems it’s died down since even though the PRO paid users aren’t getting answers.

I’ve tried other plugins including the top BetterDocks and one from Echo Plugins but they’re so heavy and packed with settings it’s too much for my projects.

I’ll fork this one and do custom edits and fixes to keep it “alive” in some way.
