overview photos posted by a certain user
-
I’m looking currently for a way to display all photos posted by a certain user. Not from within the admin module but via the normal web interface visible for any user.
One option could be to have a list of all users in a widget. This widget could either display all registered users or a top ten list (based on number of photos, number of comments or time since initial registration). By clicking on any of the usernames listed, one would land on a separate page displaying only the photos uploaded by that user.
(A “my pictures” widget could do something similar but then always for the user that is logged in.)Another option would be to add a “gallery” link in the comments next to the name of the user who posted the comment.
Clicking on the link will open a new page with all the photos uploaded by this commenter.Would these be possible in a future version if not yet already available?
Kind regards,
Dirk Claesen

Correction / Update:
Do NOT give them Album Admin rights, but check Table VII-C2: Uploader edit.
Then they can edit their own photos only, at the admin side. So – be it at the admin side – the functionality is there. What are your objections against letting subscribers use the admin dashboard? The only thing they can do is update their profile and edit their photos.
Currently editing as described above requires also wppa upload rigts, but if you want to set limits in Table VII-B you must NOT give them upload rights in Table VII-A.
This can easily be modified in the next version, so that they only have the Edit Photos menuitem on the dashboard without the Upload Photos menuitem, but first i want to know why you do not want them on the dasboard They can always enter
https://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/
to get there once logged in.I might have some incorrect settings as I don’t see anything in table VII-C. The miscellaneous security settings only display the titles but no options.
Can you tell me which options are required in order to display the options of table VII-C?Maybe I underestimate my (future) users but it seems to me the admin bar offers too many options, it gives too many details about the website (WordPress version, theme name + version) and it looks like users can moderate the photo album comments made by other users.
Furthermore one can see the default WordPress “Posts” and “Comments” options while I only want to upload allow the upload of wppa photos and wppa comments.
I would like to have a simple, uniform looking website. No matter where someone is on my website (posting photos or comments, changing his profile, …) he should always see the same layout and be able to go to the home page by one single click.
Good that you mentioned any user can go to the wp-admin page. This is something I want to block to prevent any unwanted actions.
If I cannot prevent users from accessing this page, I definitely need to limit the number of available menu options.I have just installed the “wp admin no show” plugin to totally prevent any non-admin user from accessing the wp-admin page.
When a non-admin user tries to access the wp-admin page they are redirected to the home page. Can you tell me which options are required in order to display the options of table VII-C?
You should at least se:
Owners only
Uploaders Edit
Upload memory check frontend
Upload memory check admin
And when comment system is enabled:
Comment Captcha
Spam lifetimeClick on the subheader???
and it looks like users can moderate the photo album comments made by other users.
That is not true, Only users that have Comments ( admin ) or Moderate rights in Table VII-A can change comments.

That makes sense, you have made your point i will work on frontend photo edit, but be aware that the functionality is already there. Do NOT give them Comment rights in Table VII-A, just enable comments in Table II-B10 and configure Table IV-F
That was stupid simple. I had indeed to click on the header in order to see the different options for table VII-C.
With the Uploader Edit option enabled, I can see indeed only the “Edit” link for the photos posted by the user and no longer for the other users. However, as I disabled the wp-admin page for normal users, I cannot currently edit the photos.
I will wait for your frontend edit photo implementation. You’re right about the comments. That was my misinterpretation. I thought I had to select the “comments” right in table VII-A in order to be able to post some comments. But it is an “comments admin” right.
Thanks for your swift reply and help as always.

Thanx for telling me, i will make it more clear in the table banner.
There is a pre-release of 5.1.17 available here.
It needs manual installation ( download, unzip, ftp, VISIT SETTINGS PAGE! ( and do nothing ) ) that should do it ( Frontend edit without admin pages) .
Please test it before i will release it.
Thanks for creating it so quickly!
I have played around with it a little bit and would like to return you my comments.
It works fine under Firefox 22 and Chromium 30. Under Opera 12 I can see the popup window but changes are not applied (all under Linux Mint). (You may forget about Opera 12 for the time being)
As an end user I would prefer to see two buttons: “save changes” and “discard changes”. Right now changes are automatically saved when the window is closed (but only after you left the field you just edited). If you change for instance the description you need to first click on another field before the change is kept when closing the window.
Linked to this I would like to have an auto-refresh of the page in the browser when closing the window. Otherwise it looks like the change didn’t take place. (Only after a reload of the page, the change is visible.)Secondly, I would like to limit the fields that are available to an end user. The “photo sort order” and the “insertion code” fields are in my opinion not something an user should be able to change.
Thirdly, when a photo is deleted and the popup window is closed you’re back in the browser on the page containing the photo that was just deleted. If you now reload the page you get an error message that the photo is not available.
I know, the possibility that someone does this is very low, but would it be possible to say that upon deletion of a photo the user would be either returned to the home page or would see the next photo in the same category. (If the last photo of a category is deleted, I think the only option would be to return to the home page.)I hope I’m not too much of a nuisance with all my remarks and wishes.
Thanks again for all your work! All changes are applied instantanious, that is how the album admin and the photo admin work. I could add an explanatory line at the top.
Everyone wants me to use modern techniques, so i will not revert back to the old fashioned submit button.
You can exclude certain items for non-admin users in album admin in Table IX-B91/3, I could do such a thing for certain items in the edit photo screen. Insertion code is not changeable, it is just a help to make a shortcode for a post or page. Sort order is relevant only when the albums sort method is set to Order#, but i can imagine you want to hide it.
Pls give a full list of items that you want to hide for non-admin users, its easier to implement them all in one go.If one deletes a photo, one can expect that its gone…
I will improve the error message in this case.
I do not see how i can force a reload of the main page when the popup browserwindow is closed…Thanks for your feedback.
I totally respect your effort of using the latest techniques. If you could add an explanatory line at the top of the “Edit photo” popup window to indicate changes are applied as soon as the cursor is moved into another field, that would be fine to me.
Or if you could force the update to take place when closing the window without leaving the field, that would be fine to me as well.Personally, I only mind about the “insertion code” and “photo sort order #” fields. If these two could be hidden, that would be great.
Would it be possible to have the “edit photo” either as a separate page or as a (collapsable) box between the description and the EXIF box?
If it is a separate page the reload would happen automatically when returning to the initial page.
If it is an extra box between description and EXIF it might be possible to trigger a reload as well. But I guess a “submit” button would be needed here just like the “Send” button for the comments that are enteredThanks again for your efforts!
FYI:
I found this when working on the code: The insertion code is a demo for a shortcode in a page or post, and will only be visible to users that have the wp edit_posts or edit_pages rights, i.e. the users that can use it.
Photo sort order # will be possible to set to restrict in Table IX-B10.1. The setting Table IX-B9.2: Link is restricted also applies to the pso links on the photo edit page.
Would it be possible to have the “edit photo” either as a separate page or as a (collapsable) box between the description and the EXIF box?
This would give serious performance problems.
The updates will now indeed be immediately, also for edit fields.
Opera will do it also.
Soon i will provide 5.1.17.rc2
Thanks again for all the time and effort.
I’m looking forward to test the next version.
When I select the “link is restricted” in table IX-B9.2 and I launch the “edit photo” window, then I get two extra fields: “link url” and “link title”. I don’t see immediately what the impact is of this setting on the “post sort order”.
Maybe a little bit off-topic, but would you recommend to set the “use Ajax” option in table IV-A1?
https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/wp-photo-album-plus.5.1.17.rc2.zip is available.
Please test it, it will reload the page after closing the edit window (!)
Same procedure, do not forget to visit the settings screen!!!I want to release it tomorrow.
“link url” and “link title”
are the ‘Photo specific links’ you can assign to a photo. You can check the PSO boxes in Table VI where you want these links to overrule the standard links.
would you recommend to set the “use Ajax” option
Yes, the more Ajax the better.
Under Firefox it seems to work correctly.
When I edit a description and close the window, I return to the page with the description updated. Thanks for getting the auto-refresh working.
When I delete a photo, I return to the home page. That’s fine as I cannot get an error message now.Option IX-B10.1 is working fine and the photo sort order is now hidden for the end user.
I also like the display of buttons for “move photo”, “copy photo” and “delete photo” instead of the links.
Under Chromium 30 it doesn’t seem to work as good as under Firefox.
When I edit the description (without leaving the field and after having waited for the Remark field to indicate the description has been updated) and close the window, nothing happens. There is no auto-refresh. When I press the refresh button I see that only part of the changes in the description have been applied. Sometimes I miss the last character, sometimes the last two characters and once I missed the complete last word. (I had this once as well under Firefox)Under Opera 12 there is also no auto-refresh but after pressing the refresh button I can see at least all changes without any character being dropped.
There is an issue that I have with all browsers and that is the following.
When I edit a photo, refresh the screen to show the changes, click on another photo on the photo browse bar and also click on “Edit” for this photo, then the popup window displays the previous photo I was editing. If I go via the “user photos” widget or via the home screen to select another photo, the “edit photo” window shows the correct photo.I’ll continue testing the new version but should you be online you might already read this comment.
When logged in as administrator the edit photo shows the correct photo even when switching via the photo browser bar.
This problem seems to be related to a normal user only.
