Own menu item, again.

Hi, is that bug or feature?

In case of feature and you are not going to fix that, I am really worried about the future updates of this plugin and I think it’s best time to look forward better plugin (more serious).

Totally agree. Just put it under ‘Settings’ or ‘Tools’. There’s really no need for yet another top-level menu entry…

We appreciate your feedback. We’ve decided to move it in the main dashboard because it’s easier to find for our customers. We are closing in on 2 million free users and we now offer a premium version of the service. It helps out our support team when we are taking care of customers that are new to WordPress. Many other security plugins such as Wordfence and Sucuri have main dashboard icons so this is not an uncommon thing to do. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Too bad, that’s exactly what makes the administration of WordPress messy and unreadable.

Maybe an option to put it under “Settings” for your professionals users ?

I agree with @theamnesic the limit-login-attempts link is now in two locations. One on the main admin menu, the other one is under Settings. This plugin really runs itself and there is no need to clutter up the admin menu with a double lined option. Just my opinion and suggestion.

And when plugins like Wordfence and Sucuri do it, we don’t like it either. It makes the dashboard messy. Please remove this separate tab, it has so few options that it is fine to put under the settings tab. Like it always has.

For the people that also don’t want this clutter in their admin menu, add this to your functions.php in your theme

Yeah, trying everything possible to get their premium version in front of customers.
Some of my clients freaked out when they got the warning mails or see a new icon they do not know.
