• I currently use the oxygen theme at: nervewax.wordpress.com

But when I installed the same theme in my www.ads-software.com installation, it failed show the same output: nervewax.com.s168867.gridserver.com

The problems I can see myself already are:

    • The posts do not rescale to their 470 x 140 size.
    • The main wrap does not have the same width as the .com version
    • The main wrap doesn’t have it’s own background colour
    • The featured slider fails to load, even though the data is a direct export from the wordpress.com version
    • Using a static front-page stops the posts showing altogether.

Can anyone help me recreate the version of oxygen that is on wordpress.com? Or even better can a theme dev just send me over the css files used in the .com version?

  • Please be aware that themes on wordpress.com have often undergone extensive customisations and may be quite different from their counterparts available elsewhere.

I think I understand, but is there no way I could get hold of the same customizations used in the .com version?

    Not from here, no.

You have to manually make some adjustments.

    • The posts do not rescale to their 470 x 140 size.

After all the images are completely transfered, install a plugin called Regererate Thumbnail. Run it once, all images will get the correct size.

    • The main wrap does not have the same width as the .com version
    • The main wrap doesn’t have it’s own background colour

Apply the same value of padding left and right to .wrap in normal PC screen, and a few more in media query for small screens. Also, the background color.

    • The featured slider fails to load, even though the data is a direct export from the wordpress.com version

Make sure the page is assigned with Front page template and after Regererate Thumbnail, it should work

    • Using a static front-page stops the posts showing altogether.

The .org version doesn’t assign display position using tag or category. When editing post, you can set the position for each post regardless of tag or category the post is in.

Thanks so much paulwpxp for your help!
I’m getting there with it now, I just need to mess with the CSS some more, as you said.

On a side note, I noticed this theme uses a style.min.css. It’s quite hard to work with, is there anything that can be done about that?
Thanks for your help man, it’s very much appreciated!

You could see that theme comes with regular stylesheet for study, and the minified one which is in use.

But if you work with Firebug or Web developer Tool in browser, it won’t matter anyway. All code will be shown nicely.

Make sure that you don’t edit theme’s CSS directly. Changes in CSS must be done via child theme or via Custom CSS option which is theme’s feature.

    Hi,

excuse me for my english because i’m french.

I really don’t understand how can I do to make the slider appear ?

What kind of homepage should I have to create ?
What kind of articles do I have to create also ?

Nothing correct appears on my home page, and I’ve installed WordPress on my own way.
Then’ Ive downloaded the Oxygen Theme, and I’ve tried to understand how create my homepage but nothing appears correctly.

If someone could simply explain me what can I change on the FTP or on my private access on the blog, It could be very very very sympathic.

    Thanks for your answer.
