P2 Posts of 140 Characters

You need to be a little clearer about what you want to do…

Do you want to actually limit posts to 140 or just limit the content for each post which is output to the visitor?

Sorry, I’m looking to limit posts to 140 characters (vesrus an excerpt of 140).

Are you looking for a function to use in specific places or a site wide change?

Do you want this as an addition to the excerpt?

I’m looking to have posts in P2 limited to 140 characters just as they are on Twitter.

Are you wanting a post restriction, limiting posts to 140 characters? As in authors can’t post a post if it has more then 140 chars…

When you say limit you need to be clear about precisely where this limit should apply, on post creation, post viewing or both…

If you want to limit posts, actual content of posts to 140 characters you’ll proberly have to delve into core WP files. If you want to simply restrict the amount of characters shown on the page, then that’s easy enough.

You can do all of that without having to touch any core files. Just use something hooked onto an action or filter:

Personally, I think that 140 characters is too limited. IMO, the desired number of characters should be determined by the Blog owner.

@gene53, I think that is what jacob00 is intending to do. P2 does *not* limit the number of characters by default.

Anyone have some direction on this one? Looking to limit posts in P2 theme to 140 characters.
