• I have been playing around wit the P2 theme for a while now and have begun to want to use it seriously now.
There is a major flaw in wordpress and p2 though as far as i am concerned that I am unable to get around so far.
I have tried role manager and role scooper (though not as much).
    Ok what I want is:

    – To have users signup and be part of a group that can create posts
    — done – created a group in role manager called members and assigned post permissions (this is a modifiecd subscriber role)

    – Allow users to comment on anyones posts
    — Done

    – Allow users to ‘Edit’ Their own posts.
    — This doesn’t work. Although it seems to be set in the role manager setting for this group.
It seems that you can only edit your own posts when you have started the thread(post)
This is a bug in WordPress I think

    Thanks

    Sorry i forgot to add:
Allow users to edit their own comments – not edit own possts (that bit works)
They can’t edit their own comments unless they atarted the thread,
This is weird and annoying – also i have tried ajax edit comments and After reading the install instructions i didnt want to try hacking around with the mightly fine p2 comment php file

Hmmm… i’m about to dive into this same situation, and glad I read your experience. I’ll let u know if I find a solution without hacking PHP.

BTW, are the users able to delete their comments?

nope – they can only delete their own comments if they start the thread.
seems like a silly situation really but this is how it is at the moment

Hey all. I’ve been trying to find out how roles effect P2. We’re having an issue with the post option showing up for some users. Users are set as contributors by default. We just started experimenting with Role Manager but I’m not clear as to how it functions with P2. Has anybody found documentation on what users have what rights in P2?

PS… I’m not a coder (I leave that to my 17 year old), so please forgive me if this is an obvious issue.

    Thanks

Not sure if I read it correctly, but I did not need to use role manager plugin to accomplish what you mentioned above. Why not just assign “author” role by default to new users? In my installation, registered users can “edit” their own post without issues.

I think I looked into role manager at some point. I abandoned it.

I simple grant all new users AUTHOR privs. I also wrote a plugin (unreleased) that removes the backend (wp-admin/*)… But not even Admins can get to it! Doh! Anyway – I’ll fix it some other day

OH – it’s not a P2 thing that sets all users to author… it’s a WordPress thing. Look under the settings somewhere.

question, I’ve just started using p2 and it’s kinda neat, a cross between a blog and a bulletin board. But are there any docs on the damn thing? And some of the ‘features’ ddon’t seem to work.

I just install p2, but I can’t post from my home page!.

May be some thing that I didn’t do or forgot!

Is there a p2 step by step how to set up tutorial video ?

It works so well in the video tutorial from Automatic, but no lessons on how to get it to work like that.

    My site is https://www.cotorrea.com

    thank you
