Page and Category Sharing the Same Name / URI

Does WP allow you to create pages that would conflict with an existing category structure? What would happen?

For example: you desire to create the page that would result in the URI: https://example.com/africa/ but already have a category in place for ‘africa’ (https://example.com/africa/my-post-title/)
